Hot yoga lesson Singapore | Bikram Yoga classes

cofounder-300x235Bikram Yoga is a 90-minutes class consisting of 26 postures and two breathing exercise. Bikram is a beginner’s yoga class open to all levels of practitioners. There are no advanced postures here but it’s challenging enough to keep you entertained for years to come. The sequence of 26 postures was scientifically designed to systematically and progressively work every muscle, ligament, tendon, and joint in your body.

It will help to move fresh oxygenated blood around 100% of your body, into every organ and fibre, to restore all your systems. Every posture prepares you for the next one and every following posture gains from the previous one. This results in incredible benefits such as improved posture, muscle and joint mobility, concentration, energy level and overall rejuvenation. To allow for safer and deeper stretching, the studio is heated to 105.

What? Bikram is actual person? Not just a type of yoga?

Born in Calcutta in 1946, Bikram began practicing Yoga at the age of four with Bishnu Ghosh, India's most renowned physical culturalist at that time. Ghosh was the first to scientifically document Yoga's ablity to cure chronic physical ailments and heal the body.

Bikram practiced Yoga between four and six hours every day at Ghosh's College of Physical Education in Calcutta. At the age of thirteen, Bikram won the National India Yoga Championship. Undefeated for the following three years, he retired as the undisputed All India National Yoga Champion.

At seventeen, Bikram suffered a serious knee injury during a weight lifting accident. It was the opinion of European doctors that Bikram would never walk again. Not accepting their opinion, Bikram returned to Ghosh's school. He knew that if anyone could help to heal his knee, it was his guru - Bishnu Ghosh. Six months later, his knee had completely recovered.

And like they say, the rest is history.
Bikram was asked by Ghosh's school to start several schools in India. The school's were so succesful that Ghosh asked Bikram to travel to Japan where two more schools were opened. Bikram has since brought his curative method of Yoga therapy around the world and is the founder of the worldwide Yoga College of India.

Bikram believes that a body with a strong healthy spine wants to and will cure itself; that regular practice is a natual method of healing.

So it's not just some flash in the pan, new trend. Bikram's method has been taught in some form for hundreds of years. Yogananda taught Bishnu Ghosh, Bishnu Ghosh taught Bikram and Bikram is now teaching you.
